Advantages of the gasification

Through wood gas, CO2-neutral, sustainable energy is generated. Wood is an ideal energy carrier that is regionally available.  Using gasification technology, a high quality gas is therefore obtained.

The classic production of electricity from biomass is only profitable starting from about 5 MWel (steam processes). GTS systems, however, can also be produced in smaller performance categories.

Wood gasification is also suitable for smaller, decentralized energy supply systems. Municipalities as well as commercial and industrial enterprises can therefore ensure their own CO2-neutral energy supply and have a sustainable impact on nature and the regional economy.

A wood-fired cogeneration plant is in operation between 7500 and 8500 hours a year. The own power consumption of a gasification power plant is about six percent, and is mainly due to gas production, drying and electrical transport systems of the wood chips.

The gross electrical efficiency of the overall system based on the fuel calorific value is between 25% and 30% (depending on the fuel). The thermal efficiency (water 70/90 ° C) is between 50% and 60%. The overall efficiency of the system is thereby above 80%. If also the low-temperature heat is used for e.g. drying purposes, the overall efficiency can be further increased.

Our gas motors "Otto" operate at a level of electrical efficiency which, calculated on the calorific value of wood gas, varies between 36% and 39% (depending on the potential compression in the combustion chamber which varies from one motor to another).  The overall level of efficiency of cogeneration modules is around 80%.
